01 · Write

Type like a screenwriter.
It looks like a script.

Write in Fountain, the plain-text screenplay format: put a scene heading in capitals, a character’s name above their line, and the Room lays it out properly. No ruler, no tab key, no template.

The Room keeps a version history, so a rewrite never costs you the draft before it.

EXT. FIELD - DAY

Flashes of light resolve into an interlaced VIDEO IMAGE.

THE SHEPHERD (64), flowing robe, headdress, staff, stands in a flock of plywood sheep. He gives the lens a fatherly glance.

SHEPHERD

It’s a good day to be a shepherd.

INT. SARA’S BEDROOM - DAY

From Whistling Boy in the Graveyard, written in a Film Room.

02 · Table Read

Hear it before you shoot it.
No accounts for the actors.

Share one Table Read link. Your actors open it in any browser, pick their character, and their lines light up in their color, so nobody misses a cue.

Turn the link off when the read is done.

03 · Prompter

Your phone is the teleprompter.

Scroll the script at the speed you set, change the text size, turn the phone sideways. Mirror it for a beam-splitter rig. The screen stays awake while it runs.

04 · PDF

A proper script to hand out.

Export a screenplay PDF in 12-point Courier with standard margins. Print sides for the shoot, or send the draft to someone who should read it.

Questions filmmakers ask

Before you roll.

Is this screenwriting software?

It has a screenplay editor: write in Fountain, the plain-text screenplay format, and the script is laid out with scene headings, characters, and dialogue. It exports a standard PDF. But the point is the room around the script: your crew, the table read, the teleprompter, and the deadline, all in one place.

Does my crew need to pay?

No. You start the Room on your membership, and up to 15 people join it free with one link. They can write and comment inside your Room. If your membership ends, they keep writing for 72 hours so nobody loses a scene mid-shoot.

Do actors need an account for the table read?

No. You share a Table Read link and they open it in any browser. Each person picks a character and their lines light up in that character’s color.

Can I bring in a script I’ve already written?

Yes. Paste the text into the Room’s script. Scripts written in Fountain keep their formatting.

Does it work on a phone and a computer?

Yes. Film Rooms work on the web, iPhone, and Android, with one membership. Write on a laptop, run the teleprompter on a phone.

Who can see my script?

Only the people you invite. Rooms are private by default. Nothing is posted anywhere unless you choose to share it.
